American Gothic Tales
by Joyce Carol Oates (Editor)

One of my blog readers took issue with Oates’s (non)-definition of the Gothic; nor did they consider this anthology, as excellent as it is, to be truly representative of gothic fiction. But it is an excellent anthology.
I’m going to keep it in the Gothic category, to match its title.
A discussion of Puritanism in the context of selections from the anthology.
A bit of book-scrying fun with the text.
